Solanian Language

Solanian maps one-to-one onto the English alphabet. Every glyph above has been traced into a typeface — type into the box below and read your own words in Solanian.

No glyph for J, Q, X or Z has ever appeared in published card art, so those four letters cannot be written; they render as empty runes above.

Nor has any Solanian text ever shown a punctuation mark or a numeral — not Dorinthea’s pillar, the nullrune equipment, nor the card backs. Every attested inscription is letters and spaces alone, so that is all the typeface will write.

Although the letters are cursive in shape, they do not join: on Dorinthea’s pillar each one stands separate, and the typeface follows suit.

This language was first seen on Dorinthea’s main artwork.

By the light I speak that i will live my life in the light.

dorinthea

All of the nullrune equipment has varying degrees of Solanian symbols, they aren’t easy to read on some of them however. Only the gloves and the boots make much sense.

The card art for Shiyana, Diamond Gemini says:

Beside every great king, is a great queen

shiyana

The article Lead by Example states:

Light, the brush stroke of creation.

This also shows up on the backs of the cards above where it says “Flesh and Blood”.
